Machine translation

ZENVORA returns a machine translation. It can miss tone, names, numbers, dialect, or meaning. It can add words that were not in the source. You should read the result before you send it to someone else.

It is not a sworn translation, a certified translator, or a human review. The app does not mark a result as officially correct.

Where the text goes

Signed-in translation uses POST /v1/translate. The default provider is MyMemory. The text you submit is sent to MyMemory. Style, Arabic variety, and earlier lines are not sent to MyMemory, because that provider has no field for them.

OpenAI is used for translation only if OPENAI_API_KEY is set on the server and the provider is set to OpenAI. In that case the request can include the text, the style, the Arabic variety, and earlier lines from the app as context. This page does not promise that your text stays only on the ZENVORA server.

The public website does not hold a provider key. A visitor on the public site does not get a translation from this page.

Rewrite and smart replies

Rewrite is included on Individual, Team, and Business. Smart replies are included on Team and Business. Both call OpenAI only when the key is set. Otherwise the server returns an error and does not invent a rewrite or a reply. An account with no subscription does not get those features. Their text counts toward the same monthly word allowance.

Listen uses the browser speech synthesis when the signed-in page is open and the browser provides it. Dictation uses the browser speech recognition API when that browser provides it, and says so when it does not. There is no paid speech vendor.

Do not rely on it alone

Do not use a ZENVORA result as the only basis for a medical decision, a legal filing, an immigration form, a contract, a safety instruction, or an emergency. If the wording matters, ask a person who is qualified in that language and that subject.

Lessons review words you saved. They do not teach a course, and they stay empty when you have no saved words. The phone app has no lesson mode.
